Planned Parenthood Budget Rising

Jun. 8, 2007 ( - The annual budget of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America is edging toward $1 billion a year, a pro-life group notes. The nation's largest abortion provider receives roughly one-third of its income from taxpayers.

Planned Parenthood's budget for 2005-2006 was $902.8 million, an increase of 2.4% over the previous year's figure. More than one-third of that figure, $305.3 million, came from public funding.

Douglas Scott of Life Decisions International, a group that tracks the activities of Planned Parenthood, noted that the group ended the fiscal year with millions of dollars in "excess revenue over expenses-- which is known to regular people as profit."

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America performs well over 250,000 abortions every year, accounting for about 20% of all the unborn babies killed in the US.
